Are you interested in scale model boats, and/or yachts? If so then you might like to visit Balne Moor Model Boat Club. You will receive a warm welcome and don't worry if you do not have a boat, someone will lend you one and will be happy to answer your questions about our hobby.
The Club has a pond and clubhouse in beautiful rural North Yorkshire. You can find directions to our two sites at the bottom of this page.
The club has a long association with scale sailing and is recognised in the model boating fraternity as a home for tug towing.
More recently the club has started organising yachting events based on the Dragon Force, RG65 and International one metre formats.
Members of the Club can visit the pond at any time, but there is no longer a regular time when attendance can be guaranteed. If you are thinking about visiting Balne Moor on any day other than an event day then it is advisable to first contact one of the Club's Officers the details of whom can be found on the contacts page. This is because the Club pond is within a secure area and the gates may be locked. The Clubhouse is some distance from the gates and there is no guarantee your shouts would be heard!
Yachting events take place at Askern Lake on Tuesdays and Sundays.
The club organises an annual programme of events for scale sailing/tug towing and also for yachting.
More information on each programme can be found on the relevant page of this site.
Fast electric boats, and boats with internal combustion engines are not allowed at either venue.
Steam powered boats must have an up to date boiler certificate.
There will be a warm and friendly welcome at each venue, so why not come along?
